Happy New Year, Street Teamers!

By now, everyone has probably seen the video in which Anoop announces that his single is coming out in late March or April, followed by an album in April. 2010 is going to be an extraordinary year for Anoop and his fans. Let’s all work (and squeee) together to make this a successful year for Anoop Desai, the artist we believe in.

FIRST SINGLE DROPS IN LATE MARCH OR APRIL – Anoop announced on the WRAL-TV 10 PM news on New Year’s Eve (watch it HERE) that his first single will drop in late March or April. This means that now, we can truly begin our work as his street teamers. Get ready to do the following starting late March and April:

• BUY THE SINGLE – It is extremely important that every one of us pays to download the single. We need this single to make the iTunes Top 200 (or Top 10 for that matter) and Amazon mp3 Top 100 (or Top 10). The ranking will generate buzz, and the buzz will lead to more sales to push the single to rank even higher. In order for this positive feedback loop to start working, the single needs to rank in the top 200/100 in the first place.
• BUY MORE THAN ONE COPIES OF THE SINGLE IF POSSIBLE – Granted, this is not for everyone, as some fans are students, out of work, or in other limiting situations. However, the single will cost only about $1.00. Many of us will be able to afford more than one copies. Consider gifting Anoop’s single to friends and family. The iTunes single gifting is a great way to send thank-you notes and thinking-of-you greetings.
• REQUEST THE SINGLE ON RADIO STATIONS – Find out which of your local stations play the types of music Anoop will likely release as his first single (i.e., pop, R&B, soul). Have their phone numbers, email addresses, and web-based song request forms ready so that you can hit them as soon as the single hits the market.
• TALK IT UP – Talk about Anoop Desai and his single everywhere you go – in real life with friends and family, as well as on internet forums. Be ready to copy and paste the links to his single on iTunes and Amazon mp3 stores every time you talk it up.

ALBUM DROPS IN APRIL – During the same WRAL newscast, Anoop also mentioned that his album will be released in April. Please be prepared to buy this album, more than one copies if possible.

BRAINSTORM OTHER STREET TEAMING IDEAS – Use the campaign board of our forum (click HERE) to share your ideas about how we can promote the single so that Anoop’s music career can get off to a good start with great sales numbers and radio airplays.

• anoopdog.com, which has been a great gathering place for Anoop’s fans since January 2009, will be closing its site.
